Our Divisions
We created a diverse line-up of multi-colour cell and tissue slides designed to test, validate and showcase today’s sophisticated microscopes.
RespiraLux illustrative models were designed to represent lung physiology and provide a truly hands-on experience for your patients.
Created for and with Respiratory Educators.
SurgiBoards are designed to stabilize moving tissue enabling the highest quality intravital imaging.
Our Lung Imaging SurgiBoard has been featured in the Nature Journal Communications Biology and the Journal of Visual Experimentation.
About Us
Everyday, scientists find creative solutions to their problems, yet more often than not, those solutions stay in the lab.
Luxidea was created to identify solutions that are already at the prototype stage and develop them into products that can benefit other researchers and health care professionals.
Our products are diverse, reflecting the wide range of people we work with — from Respiratory Educators desperate to replace their beloved airway models to Microscopists needing cell and tissue slides up to the challenge of validating and showcasing high-perfomance microscopes.
Luxidea finds solutions and moves them…
From the Lab to the World.
Luxidea is a social enterprise.
Our activities support core research platforms, such as the Live Cell Imaging laboratory at the University of Calgary as well as education in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
Our Team
Kamala D. Patel, PhD
President and Co-founder
Discovery comes from disruptive thinking. Kamala has applied this principle in the lab where she has an international reputation for her 25 years of research in Asthma, the boardroom where she has led diverse teams to success, and now as an entrepreneur leading the team at Luxidea.
Lisa Anzalone, MSc
Product Development and Marketing Officer and Co-founder
Lisa has more than 30 years of experience consulting with Fortune 50 to 1000 companies nationally and internationally. She brings business and marketing expertise helping transform prototypes developed in the lab into products ready for the market.
Pina Colarusso, PhD
Technical Advisor and Co-founder
Pina is the Director of the Live Cell Imaging laboratory and brings more than 25 years of experience in microscopy to the team. She works with scientists in cell biology, engineering, physics and medicine to find solutions to their problems and help drive research.
Keith Kostuchowski, BFA
Prototyping and Design Officer
Keith is an artist and designer with experience working in a wide range of media. From graphic design to 3D printing to silicone mold design — Keith does it all.
